DeMar DeRozan is one of the more famous players on the Chicago Bulls roster. DeRozan is often a key player for the Bulls alongside other stars like Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine. The 32-year-old DeRozan plays as a shooting guard or sometimes a small forward. He has played for the United States national team during the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

DeRozan played for the University of South California when in college. He reportedly wanted to play for USC over North Carolina and Arizona State. DeRozan had an excellent debut game for the USC against the Azusa Pacific. He led the USC scoring a team-high 21 points with seven rebounds.

Demar Derozan's Back Tattoos

The tattoo on DeMar DeRozan is a face of the late actor Heath Ledger as one of his movie characters. The character called the ‘Joker’ features in DC Comics and in the DC Cinematic Universe as the arch nemesis of the popular comic superhero Batman.

Heath Ledger tragically passed away in 2008 and posthumously received an Oscar for his performance as the Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’.

DeRozan started his NBA career in 2009 with the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors selected him as the ninth overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. The Toronto Raptors would be the team to draft Demar DeRozan, which proved to be an overwhelming situation for the young guard. Playing his college days at USC, a school just down the road from his hometown, DeRozan never had to worry about being far from home. Upon being drafted, DeRozan found himself farther from home than he’s ever known as Toronto is a little more than a hop, skip, and a jump from Compton. 2, 517 miles away to be exact. The 2009 Raptors roster was littered with vets as well and no one for Demar to really connect with as a 20 year old kid. That would change in 2012 when the Raptors signed Kyle Lowry from Houston and paired one of the greatest bromances the league had ever seen.

The Raptors found great success with the tandem of Lowry and DeRozan in the backcourt, even reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in 2015. Any Raptors playoff success would be swiftly derailed by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs’ were so dominant in Toronto during this era that Lebron James donned the nickname ‘Lebronto’. The Raptors, knowing their window was closing, had to make a move. Meanwhile in San Antonio, Kawhi Leonard was refusing to play because of conflicts with the front office. The Raptors found instant success. Kawhi Leonard led them to their first championship in franchise history in one of the greatest playoff runs of all time. Demar, on the other hand, was nearly forgotten. The Spurs struggled to consistently put up wins despite DeRozan putting up numbers that paralleled his days in Toronto. Unlike his peers, DeRozan never complained, never asked for a trade, he simply just went out and did his job. In the start of 2021, DeRozan would have to face the largest hurdle of his career.

With his father’s health deteriorating, DeRozan would routinely fly straight from the hospital on game days, trying to get as much time in with his dad as he could. Unfortunately in early 2021, Frank DeRozan would pass after three years in the hospital. Demar would finish his contract out with the Spurs and find his new home in Chicago.

Calling DeRozan and the Bulls a good match is an understatement. DeRozan is a key reason why the Bulls are #2 in the East right now. Currently sitting at fifth in points per game putting up 26.4, DeRozan has more than earned his spot as an all-star starter.

Underground Tattoo uses Eternal and Empire inks. I primarily use FK Irons FLUX and Xion Spectra tattoo machines with Cheyenne Safety Needle cartridges.

Many tattooists complain about the high price of the Cheyenne needles (myself included), and most turn to cheaper knock-off brands instead. I have tried many different brands of needles but have chosen to stay with the higher-priced Cheyennes because for me they are more consistent and reliable. If a needle becomes clogged with ink, the Cheyennes have a removeable tip that allows for direct cleaning of the needles. And they feel more consistent.

Same with the inks. If clients are spending thousands of dollars on their tattoos, they want to feel like quality products were used. Eternal inks are a safe, vegetable-based product manufactured in America that have continually impressed myself and my clients. And for my black and gray work I like to use Empire's white wash series.

I have used many tattoo machines over the years.  The Xion FLUX and Spectra are my most favorite thus far, and also the most expensive. I put in the needle cartridge, adjust the depth, and I tattoo.  I don't waste time fiddling with parts, changing out tubes, filing points, replacing springs, troubleshooting issues...these machines just let me work. I like well-built tools.

For those who don't know the term, flash refers to all the designs on the wall that you can pick from in most tattoo shops. If you choose a design off the wall, chances are there are hundreds of other people out there with the exact same tattoo as you.

We are in the internet age, and clients do find cool art designs online that they fall in love with, so I don't always do custom original tattoos on everyone.  But I do offer the service.

I feel I’ve learned what I need to get started once I’ve practiced on latex enough. Quality of the videos was great so it was easy to follow along. I wish there was information about how to shade and how to use colored pigments with different skin types.
